West Virginia Baptist Convention Executive Minister Job Posting

The West Virginia Baptist Convention (WVBC), a region of the American Baptist Churches, USA, headquartered in Parkersburg, West Virginia is currently seeking an Executive Minister to lead its organization.

We are seeking to hear from individuals who have a proven track record in the following areas:

Understanding the bivocational pastor/church.

Ability to relate to a variety of church contexts.

Leading and assisting others in building healthy, growing churches.

Promoting and practicing leadership and clergy development.

In addition, the successful candidate will exhibit the following skills:

An impeccable sense of integrity and the ability to create a culture of trust.

A history of quality decision making in both day to day activities and organizational

dilemmas.

An ability to actively listen to others in ways that demonstrate empathy, compassion and

challenge when needed.

A capacity to recruit, encourage and motivate others in common mission.

Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.

An ability to lead a team in such a manner the members care more about team outcomes

than individual performances.

A proficiency in delegating, with appropriate follow-up.

The competence to assess multiple scenarios and select an appropriate strategy for moving

forward.

An ability to articulate and build ownership of a future vision.

Minimum qualifications are:

Committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Master of Divinity with an earned Doctorate preferred.

Ten years pastoral or related experience in a religious setting.

ABC-USA recognized ordination.

The primary role of the Executive Minister is to provide servant leadership to the West Virginia Baptist Convention in fulfilling its current and future mission, in conjunction with the West Virginia Baptist Convention Executive Board, Executive Committee and Administrative and Professional staff.  In addition they will oversee our relationship to our national body (ABC-USA).
